Every person knows someone who has suffered through cancer. Together, we can support each other and help other women feel confident and supported through their battle against cancer.

Hi, our names are Emily, Celine, and Lauren and we are high school students in Los Angeles. We started Curls of Courage, an organization dedicated to helping women battling cancer. Our goal is to assist people who can't afford cold capping with funding, as we believe everyone should have the opportunity to keep a part of themselves during their cancer journey. We are passionate about sponsoring patients who can't afford cold capping and making a difference in their lives.

My name is Emily and this past year my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Being a single mother it was challenging for my mom to balance her life, her health, her treatment, and her role as a mother while dealing with her illness. One of the challenges she faced was the prospect of losing her hair. Her hair is such an important part of her identity; without it, she didn't feel confident or beautiful, which added to her already difficult situation. She discovered cold capping while searching for solutions to save her hair. This treatment was immensely helpful to her journey and gave her a piece of her identity and confidence back in a time when there were many uncertainties with her health.

My name is Celine and this past year my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a young mom with 3 children, this news took a toll on her life and mental health and continues to impact her. For my aunt, it all happened very fast and within 2 months she was diagnosed, got a double mastectomy, and had her reconstruction surgery. My aunt was very lucky and did not have to do any further treatment, however, breast cancer will forever be a part of her identity.

My name is Lauren and I lost my Dad to cancer when I was 10. He fought for over three years but sadly, chemo and the many surgeries were not enough to save him. Watching my Dad fight this battle was extremely hard on my whole family and losing him is something we have yet to fully recover from. Knowing the pain that this process can have on people, I felt the need to help those in similar situations who do not have the resources that we did.

All three of us were inspired by our personal experiences to create Curls of Courage. A small donation will go a long way to helping us meet our goal for HairToStay, and make a huge impact on someone's cancer treatment journey.
