Why This Fundraiser Means Everything to Me
Hi, I’m Justin and I’m a Junior At Park Vista High School in Lake Worth, FL. This fundraiser is really important to me because in February 2024, my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. 💔🎀
She’s honestly the most beautiful woman I know. If you’ve ever met her, you know her BIG RED CURLY (now straight) hair is just... BEAUTIFUL. It’s a huge part of who she is. Everyone knows her for her big red hair! Her hair is her crown 👑💖
When I found out she needed chemo, I was so scared she was gonna lose her hair. I didn’t want cancer to take that from her too.
Then we found out about scalp cooling, which helps people keep their hair during chemo. I was so relieved when I found out that was even a thing 🙏 But the thing is... it’s super expensive. Most insurance doesn’t cover it (yet, that's another cause I plan on pursuing), and when you’re already paying for co-pays, deductibles, medicine, and everything else cancer throws at you, scalp cooling just isn’t possible for a lot of families 💸
That’s why I started this fundraiser - Cap My Crown 👑💗 - and I’m teaming up with an amazing non-profit called HairToStay. They help people afford scalp cooling so they don’t have to lose their hair too. I want to help more people get access to it, no matter how much money they have.
I’m doing this for my Mom 💕 and for anyone else going through the same thing. Cancer takes a lot... but with your help, maybe we can help people keep something that matters 💖🎀👑
