A Silver Lining Worth Sharing

As Urban Allure opens its new Berkeley home, we're helping cancer patients access the same cold-capping support that helped me through treatment.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I suddenly found myself on the other side of healthcare—not as the nurse caring for patients, but as the patient facing surgeries, chemotherapy, and all the uncertainty that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

It has been the hardest thing I've ever experienced.

While hair loss may seem secondary to cancer treatment, it became one of the things I feared most because it would be a daily, visible reminder of what I was going through. Thanks to cold capping, I was able to keep most of my hair throughout chemotherapy. More than preserving my appearance, it helped me preserve a sense of myself during a time when so much felt out of my control.

The emotional and mental impact of keeping my hair has been incredible. It helped me feel more like me.

As the co-owner of Urban Allure, our mission has always been to help people feel their best. We also believe in giving back to our community whenever we can. As we celebrate the opening of our new Berkeley location, we're proud to partner with HairToStay to help fund scalp cooling treatments for other cancer patients.

Cancer is full of challenges, but supporting this cause has become one of the silver linings in my journey. If we can help even one person face treatment with a little more confidence, comfort, and hope, then something good can come from a difficult experience.

Thank you for helping us support HairToStay and future patients on their cancer journey.
