The simple answer to the complicated question, 'What worries you the most?' Knowing that I would survive cancer was non-negotiable, there was no choice in my mind, but finding out I did have a choice in how I looked and felt while fighting was a privilege not everyone is able to afford.
During my 12 rounds of chemo, I was fortunate enough to be able to cold cap through the Paxman Cold Capping system, however, that cost was ENTIRELY out of pocket. Insurance coverage for cold capping in the US is expanding, but currently remains non-universal. The average cost of cold capping in the US currently sits at $1500-$3000 per course of treatment per individual.
Upon my completion of chemo, I donated my cold cap back to the only national nonprofit dedicated to helping cancer patients keep their hair. Hair To Stay offers aid to help offset costs and makes cold capping affordable for financially challenged cancer patients.
Now I ask you, my support system, to help me in helping to support others faced with the same answer to the same question.
